So last year in Turkey, in the midst of a country going about it's normal day, we declared it to be Christmas early because we woke up to snow. It was gorgeous. The first snow of the year, it came down heavy with huge flakes that lured us outside and put a smile on our homesick faces. Chris and I looked at each other and the presents under the tree. "Kids! Today's CHRISTMAS!" we cheered. Who really knew, or cared? In our Muslim city, kids were getting on buses to school and traffic was worsening as the snow increased. We had every intention of making our Christmas a snow filled one! It didn't matter at all that it wasn't the 25th of December.
Oh our poor children! So Seattle has seen it's first snow. They love it as much as me, who called home my first semester at college at 3am when I caught site of my first Chicago snowfall. Unfortunately, they also think that with snow comes Christmas. Hmmm...I wonder where they got that impression?
