More randomness
So last night I had camera nightmares. I was walking through the fields in some country like Bangladesh or something and we came upon all these long haired dancing moose (yes, truly). Eventually, we made it down a hill and came upon a secret church service in Morocco and I realized I hadn't taken ANY pictures of the moose! Then I'm enamored by this group of believers worshipping in secret and all the exotic colors and beautiful eyes and when it's over I realize I haven't taken ANY pictures! So we spent the night and the next morning our group spots a herd of Monks(!!!) walking through the fields, clad in orange and everything. I grab the camera and dart outside, but by the time I get out to the field, the monks are gone! I keep walking, hoping to reclaim something worth photographing and come upon a bazaar in India decked out in vibrant EVERYTHING! I see these girls approach me and they have both got matching engagement rings- enormous bronze squares with a jewel-speckled ring embedded inside. They let me photograph them and the rings, but my camera won't work! I keep trying and trying to push the button and it totally breaks! I woke up very depressed! What does that tell me?

Beth, I've often struggled with those shots I wasn't able to capture, I believe everyone does. But I've also noticed that when in photographer mode, I miss the event itself. Sometimes being present in that moment and experiencing the event in real time is more important than making it last forever. Maybe some moments are meant to last for just that... a moment. Maybe even in dreams. Blessings!
