I was invited to a baby shower the other night and met a bunch of wonderful women all connected to Mars Hill Grad School in one way or another. It actually made me really miss my community of friends in Turkey! They obviously loved and supported one another and I found myself jealous that the Mom to be had gathered such a cool group of women around her! Needless to say, I enjoyed myself.
One of the women asked what I enjoyed doing and then shared herself. She's taken up guitar and is writing songs! (Mother of 4) And she's hopeful to perform them in some venue in the future... church, coffee shop, etc. But what's cool...and here's my new phrase... is that she's in no rush. She said, rather off handily and not intending to be profound in any way, "life is long." Meaning, some day I'll do that, but I'm in no hurry and neither is life.
Life is long.
I LOVE that!
In the last few days, whenever the suffocating feeling has started to come upon me and the internal scream "I just want 20 minutes to pursue this interest!!!" threatens to go public I've recalled her words. Life is long. I'll get to it...someday.
