Seattle and spiders

One thing about Istanbul that I miss: not as many creatures crawling about! No one told me that spiders and Seattle go hand in hand. Our yard has been overtaken by these little things and today we had a blast as Chris came back in the house to get us before he left for work. Webs were everywhere!

Somehow, overnight, hundreds of spiders had filled every available space between each and every flower and bush and tree with a delicate, intricate, precise web, now teeming with dew. It was regal! We actually stood in awe of these scary and prevalent mini-beasts. In their pajamas, Aidan and Ella bounded from one to the next squealing at a new discovery. I swelled with creative resonance. God is good.

Now just keep them out of my house!

Beth,
Great stuff! I love it. So much that I'm using your previous bit about the man sitting alone on the bench in my poetry group this week. Since it's public domain, I'm hoping it's legal :). It's a great example of looking for and believing in stories, being open and engaging life. Thanks for the inspiration!
